Frequently Asked Questions (FAQ)
How much ground coffee does the Coffee Meter hold?
The Metari Coffee Meter will hold at least one half pound of ground coffee, although the precise amount of coffee it will hold will differ by brand, by roast and by grind of coffee.
How much coffee does it dispense?
The Coffee Meter dispenses 1 tablespoon of ground coffee per squeeze.
How many squeezes should I use per pot of coffee?
This depends upon your personal taste, the type of roast that you buy, and the number of cups of coffee that you are making. For example, Jamaica Blue Mountain beans differ in strength from Costa Rica or Colombia, and a dark roast will be stronger than an American roast.
When I first fill the coffee dispenser very little comes out initially. What should I do?
Several initial squeezes are required to fill the measuring chambers. There are eight chambers, and one chamber rotates per squeeze, so it takes three or 4 squeezes for the first full chamber to advance to the opening.
Sometimes coffee doesn't come out of the dispenser even though the container is full. What should I do?
Tap the unit before each use to ensure that the coffee falls into the measuring chambers. Coffee is a difficult and unpredictable substance. A dark roast with a fine grind can sometimes have a consistency resembling oily flour. Such coffee can bridge between the sides of the container, especially at the throat, and resist falling into the measuring chambers below. Fineness of grind, oiliness of the beans, and humidity can cause this.
The trigger jammed. What should I do?
Occasionally the Measuring Chamber may fail to advance properly. Should this happen, reach up into the bottom opening and turn the Measuring Chamber slightly with your finger, and try again. Jamming is more likely to happen if the unit needs to be cleaned.
How should I clean the coffee meter?
The Metari Coffee Meter is dish washer safe, but to preserve the appearance of the clear hopper it is best to wash the container by hand.
